The Hamburg has been completed at last. The pictures show the result nicely.

The promenade deck and boat deck. As far as I know I am the only one who has ever cut out the windows and built the interior of the promenade. I am still satisfied with the overall impression though it is a bit hidden behind the windows.

The pool, funnel and sports decks. The funnel gave me the hell of a lifetime: it just wouldn´t want to come out plane no matter what tricks I applied. But in the end I managed it. I know exactly why I saved this step until the very last... The signal mast was constructed earlier but not applied as not to destroy this delicate structure by any sudden awkward move.

The signal deck, Sun Deck, Lido Deck, Promenade Deck and Orion Deck (all aft). For all those who need some technical data and deck plans are advised to check out the maritime journal "Schiff und Hafen". It´s November 1969 edition offers a special feature on the "TS Hamburg".

That ends this thread on the Hamburg. The next project is the Wilhelm Gustloff in the version as a hospital ship. I was a bit reluctant to build this vessel as to its problematic relation to history. The KdF Version as a NS-party-sponsored cruise ship would show the funnel markings of DAF (German Labour Front) with the swanstika. I want to avoid that (showing these signs is not legal in Germany by the way) so I opted for the more neutral Red Cross version but without the national flag. Historic accuracy must be sacrified for moral responsibility for the victims of Nazi terror.

Thumbs up

That is a mighty fine looking vessel.
Cutting out the windows and building the interior of the promenade deck is a good detail to include. It might be dark in there so it does not show up very good but it is a pleasant surprise for someone studying the finished model.

What a beautiful build, with mind numbing detail. I noticed in the shot with the deck table and chairs with the umbrella that the individual slats are cut out in the chairs, incredible.
