Very interesting. I'm about to start a similar model by the same manufacturer so seeing the frame you've made is a handy visual guide.

Hoche hull

Here is a postcard showing the Carnot in dry dock, taken after 1899, since there is a white line painted slightly above waterline. The darker color below is the red minium, and the scrapped paint coming below again, being soon repainted, is the green I spoke about.
