JSC 1:400 models

I have a question about these kits. Would anyone recommend gluing the pages to sheets of poster board for added thickness?

at that scale there is no space or tolerance for additional structural support
plus their hulls do not follow the standard construction of an egg crate frame work

Do not do this unless expressly instructed to in the instructions. Like Rick said the tolerances are too tight to allow for extra thickness. As it is, JSC kits tend to have you build a base hull and then you add a second layer of decking to provide additional strength. This way, you double the thickness anyways with out extra effort.

My experience has been that unless the design calls for such, there is no need to add additional support.

Hello,

I've made several JSC kits, including these two, and they are plenty strong on the stock as printed. All the folded tabs give the frame good stiffness once the sides are glued into place.

Enjoy,
Kurt

as kurt said at this scale they are strong enough not to need any reinforcing

Hey, you asked and we responded based on our own personal experiences and knowledge. Maybe you should stop and think before issuing snap judgments in the heat of the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if further questions from you are met with a reluctance to answer since you seem to be willing to dismiss our proffered help out of hand.

btw - out of curiosity how long have you been building JSC ships?
