Good job. Your ropes will become a lot less fluffy if you pull them over a wax candle first.

Nice job on the rigging. I always find the rigging on a sailing ship aesthetically pleasing.

Good job. Candle wax or bee wax can help you with ropes and threads. They will be less "hairy" and it is easier to operate.

Sails

Time to buy a sewing machine

My local supermarket had a sewing machine on promotion for 99€.
On my previous model I spent 65€ on the sails. On making Sails on 2 models I have the machine for free, way of thinking.

Oops, never used a sewing machine in my life.

Spend 2 days learning how use and adjust it on some cloth.
Spend 1 full weekend day making my first sail, and it looked really bad.
OK, only 20 to go.
After looking some you tube sewing for beginners it started to work. and spend only 2 days extra to make the whole lot, each next better than the previous one.

Sorry made no pictures of the bad ones.
Could not find any tutorial for sewing sails on the internet.

Maybe I could make a detailed tutorial with my next model, if there is interest for that.

Thanks for the tip. But for this one it's too late.
I noticed it the on the pictures, and was really worried about it.
Anyway, most picture are really close by, macro pictures.
The overall length of the model is 85 cm.
From normal viewing distance, some 30 to 50 cm you can hardly see it.
Let's see what happens over time.

Do you know any tutorial on this topic?

I Knew about bee wax, but could never find it. I live in a very touristic area, most things you find here is with tourists in mind.

If you can find a store that sells sewing supplies they should carry beeswax.

To me a sailing ship looks undressed, if you will, until it is rigged. I enjoy rigging a ship more than any other part of its construction.

Don't worry, my remark was not meant as criticism, just giving you a hint.
About my way of making sails: look here:

Dutch pinas 1671

I think you might have saved your money by not buying a sewing machine. My method is much easier and I like it more than my sails in the past when I stitched them by hand.
Don't hesitate to ask if something is not entirely clear. I will probably do a real tutorial on sailmaking once, if anyone is interested.
