Yes, I've used similar (EzLine) for rigging biplanes and - in conjunction with stretched sprue - my recently completed HMV Corvette model. it's very good.

What size do you use for ship rigging? I've been looking for elastic thread. Heard its a good item for ship rigging as well.

For 1:250 scale I use EzLine "fine" version.
