I guess you spend something like 40% building it and 60% detailing it.
Is this correct.
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks. I guess at a very rough estimate it took about 175 hours in total.

Not sure about building vs detailing? I just built everything as per instructions, pretty much, then did the rigging. Rigging took probably 10 hours or so.

Thank you! Just something you might want to consider: I had issues with the hull sides being too long for the sub-structure. This caused problems with things like the depth charge ports at the stern not lining up with the racks, and obviously the mis-match with the bow and foredeck as you can see. These pics are with the stern region taped in place and perfectly aligned on the rear vertical join. If I corrected the bow, the stern pieces overlapped by about 2mm per side, ruining the geometry:

So I had to cut-and-shut some new sides to fit. They required about 2mm removing as shown below. It took some time to figure out the best places to cut, to maintain alignment features on the rest of the hull.

Result was much better:

I contacted HMV, but they've not had any other comments about it, and I believe thier test build didn't have these issues, so there you go - it may be on a small run of kits, but that's how I solved it.

One thing to note about the above picture is that I only realised after cutting out and attaching all the individual deck-hull fillets, that they are included in the laser-cut set, but not indicated as such on the instructions!

Don't let the hull side issue put you off, it's not so difficult to correct once you know how, and the rest of the kit is great.

Cheers.
