Spanish C Class Submarine 1/300
Hello all!
I’ve just began a new model, a C class (Holland license) Spanish submarine from the 30’s. The model is a free issue from Jesús López Bea and can be downloaded from here: Los barcos de papel: Submarino clase C (1928) As all of Bea’s models, it is not developed to a specific scale, but something around 1/300. In my case. I edited the model and adjusted it to 1/300 The C class was composed of 6 units, identified by the codes C-1 to C-6 which were painted on both sides of their conning towers (Bea’s model provides six sets of conning tower in order to assemble whichever you want). Also, all C Class took part in the Spanish Civil War under governmental flag, seeing extensive use in liaison and patrolling duties and taking a heavy toll in casualties. Only C-4 fully served in the Spanish navy after the war (it was interned in Bizerta when the war ended, and returned by the French to Franco); two others, C-1 and C-2 were refloated after being sunk in shallow waters, but failed to become fully operative again. Up to now, the hull is mostly finished; stabilization fins and anchors, still to be assembled. Some minor adjustments were required but nonetheless everything fit as desired. More to follow soon. |

Thank You for the comments, Jesús L Bea will be glad to have his page visited and his models spread around the world!
Today's work focused on the conning tower, assembly continues straight forward with only minor deviations on my side to improve details. As you may already know, Bea's models are a bit naive, but can be turned to realistic pieces with minor effort. This is a fast building as well, I hope to have it finished for next weekend. |

Fine work on your model of this historic submarine, and many thanks for the images of the actual ship and its class-mates.

The sub is complete, as I said it is an easy build. In fact, it can be completed in a single weekend if time is available.

Very nice looking boat.
Some of those pictures remind me of the submarine base at Cartagena, Spain. I spent some time there in the late 1970's.
