USS South Dakota (BB-57)

Many of you wanted to see my USS South Dakota, so here it is.
Haliński model resized from 1/300 to 1/225. One of my worst experiences with paper models. I've never seen this one finished. A lot of modelers in Poland complained about the quality of this model, but I decided to build it. On my grandson's request.
I would recommend this model only for skilled modelers. It's a huge challenge.

Pictures were taken by Kacper(PacificWind).

Zenon, sorry to ruin your day. The South Dakota class was the only one of the Us battleships that had the "box" of the propelers inverted, and the Halinsky paper model is wrong. When I made mine at 1/700 I identify the problem and solved it. You can see the difference between my South Dakota (Nearer) and my Missoury (Farter).

Beautiful build Zenon.

I am interested as to why it was a bad experience. Was the product faulty, or was it just that hard of a model to build? Over the last year I have been looking to build a nice battleship or cruiser and wasn't sure about the manufacturers and their quality. So any advise from the forum on the best manufacturer available in the US would be greatly appreciated. ( Admin, if this is hijacking a thread, please disregard and remove).

But nonetheless, a beautiful ship and you should be proud to display it.

Dave

It was very badly designed. Many of the parts didn't match correctly. Model in itself is not too complicated in my opinion.

You didn't ruin anything . It's just a nuance. I followed the instructions and I thought everything's fine.

could it be that the parts dimensions were skewed when it was enlarged? sometimes enlarging kits are off when scanned. as much as 2-4 % in either horizontal or verticle dimensions.
