Took some time but the air wing is completed for this model. On the deck 6 Kates, 8 Vals and 9 zeros. Not accurate but looks good to the eye. Will add some more planes later. My deck park is crowded yet, nothing is permanently attached.

I will finish the hull sides and build the island next. So far I'm very pleased with this kit, although I'm sure without painting it would be a struggle. Typical Angraf, great bones, but always too many tweaks to rely on the printed coloring.

You have a lot of beautiful work invested into Hiryu.
I like that dramatic image (357) looking down the flight deck at all the aircraft.

Great work on this so far, I've always enjoyed watching carrier builds, especially with a deck full of planes.

Is this a common thing with Angraf? My next build is going to be an Angraf kit (not a ship) and I've been having trouble finding info on the kit itself, only one build thread that appears to have been abandoned.

The island and mast are complete. I made the safety netting from window screen. Next, AA guns. I don't have cnc barrels for this kit, will use some tapered pins for the 12.7 cm flak guns and simple styrene rod for the 25mm.

Awesome model. I like the close flight deck view from the side, can imagine the real thing...lots of work it looks to me, good job.

Since I already built Shokaku, I stole the 12.7 cm barrels from my Zuikaku (likely to never be built, too many models and too few years left to build them all). I believe the scale on the 12.7cm guns is over sized, have always felt this way and seems to cross the lines from designer to designer. They really don't fit under the deck very well.

The 25mm styrene barrels are over sized but I'm fine with it.

The rigging is stretched sprue. The remaining parts are complete. The 2ns set of photos is the finished model.
