Some interesting pictures of the USS Phoenix escaping Pearl Harbor and a Brooklyn class cruiser firing a broadside.

Great wealth of knowledge and nice looking ship model. I'm enjoying this one, even if I don't have much to input

Interesting link for the USS Phoenix, a model built after she was sold to Argentina.

I bought the "extra" for the Helena but I am not sure that I will use all of it. Some pieces, made of copper sheet, is very thin and breaks easily, if the part it goes around is to big it bends or breaks. If painted before hand, the paint breaks off and sometimes hard to repaint on the part it is on. I am not sure what glue to use on these parts, if they are hidden, like the gun barrels, I use a glob of super glue and it works fine. If the part is very thin and goes on the outside, super glue does not work well, neither does white glue (duh) or cement glue. You can't use a big glob and a small dab (a little dab will do it:p) does not work well. I took a picture of the copper part and one I made with paper.

Also, it does not appear that the model allows for turning turrets. No problem, I took pictures of what I did. I had to jump ahead of the progress as I had to make a turret just to make it. Went together well and the copper barrels look pretty good.

Two part epoxy works well with most metals.

The build is looking good. I'm enjoying the updates, thanks.

Interesting experiments with various materials, Padre.

All the work so far looks good to me and it appears that you have found a good way to provide for rotating turrets.

We have rifles! That's great Padre. I'm never going to catch up to you.

On the photo etch brass, I find that super glue (GEL) is the best adhesive. The gel isn't runny like the fluid variety and has a bit of workability to it. Once it sets, it's SET! You might try some of that. I use it quite a bit on photo etch parts.

A little more completed but not glued to the ship yet. I will wait till the end to do that, I will place these safely away so that i dont break them as I would if I glued them on now.
Also did not like the white lettering so I replaced them with black lettering.

Good job on the radars, directors and platforms Padre.

Are those handrails the "kit" handrails, or are they scratch-made? They look very good.
