Which model are you building here? I'm a bit thrown by your comment about 'everything being but join' . Are you scratch building your own design, or have you just opted to butt join by personal preference? The model I'm seeing (from Domatine.com) has tabs galore, but though it would undoubtedly be improved by butt joining, might I suggest that seam backing tapes may help the construction?

Can't claim the credit for this build Chucky. The picture is lifted from the Domatime website. It's been on my 'to do' pile for quite a while now, but I haven't actually built it yet.

This model (the domatine version) has become my favorite therapy. something about the very pleasing organic shapes, and the fit is enough of a challenge to be interesting. Each try produces a new approach, with different challenges.
Can't wait to try Gary's (the one that ckendzierski is building). Thanks for sharing that. |

I now have both models and the construction methods are very different. I'd say it is definitely Gary's version that Chucky is building. The use of a backbone and ribs in the Domatime one should make the curved surfaces easier to form and add overall strength to the hull, but Gary's one does look to have a better potential for shrinking down ... as is my forte.
Soooo many unfinished models around here though, so it'll be some time yet before I get to these. Meantime, I'll enjoy following your build Chucky. So keep the pictures coming.
