IJN Hiei Japanese Battleship (GPM 1:200)

As a teenager I read book called Burza nad Pacyfikiem (Storm of the Pacific) written by Zbigniew Flisowski, my favourite chapter was about the battle for Guadalcanal. From that day I have been waiting for well made kit of Kongo class battleship. Some time ago Mały Modelarz published Hiei, but unfortunately in 1:300 ratio... A few months ago GPM published it in 1:200 scale with few fixed errors from Mały Modelarz version. It's very detailed, and it's very impressive. I am very happy to start this build at last I want to make some more ships from this battle, both Japanese and American.

Many thanks to Yu Gyokubun for reference materials (if you have any more in the future please... If you're not too busy of course)

She looks like a beauty! I will be watching your build.

Guadalcanal was a very interesting period of World War 2, it was a very close run campaign for both sides.

Wow, that is a big one. I like the very big bridge structures of these Japanese battleships!

Good luck with this build.

Ciao Andrew

After watching your Kursk and Kraz truck builds I think this will be an awesome build to watch... as always I'll be watching with my jaw on the floor

Hi
Thank you all for encouraging words, I hope I will not let you down
I have a lot on my mind lately, but I'm trying to move forward with my build.
All parts of the frame are very well designed, I had no problems so far, I did not use laser cut parts.

Before applying expanding foam and plaster:
