1/700 Destroyer USS Trippe
In my latest endeavor, I realized I had only built one ship, and it was the Santa Maria.
So I decided to try one of the WWII tin cans, DD 403 USS Trippe. This model was originally done by Clifton McCullough in 1/600, with an upscale to 1/400 by Gerry1966. He also modified and added extra detail parts. I rescaled it down to 1/700, to match a submarine model I built long ago. As such, it is still 5.75 inches in length. Construction was straight forward, however there were some things on the instructions that were not clear, and both Clifton and Gerry1966 were more than willing to help my dense little brain see the way to go. The only real things I changed, were the weapons. I used a thin piece of piano wire for the 5" Mk 30 turret barrels. I also used syringe needles for the twin 40mm barrels, and toothbrush bristles for the 20mm barrels. The torpedo launchers were made using regular bond paper, as the card stock proved to stiff to try and roll that small. Now, the USS Trippe. Thanks for stopping by.

Nice and impressive work! Destroyer in 1/700 from paper is probably undoable for me. I remember that when I joined this forum I said I'll be mainly building ships, mostly from the Pacific War. Now, after 9 months, there's only one ship in my profile, USS Ward DD-139, and the rest of my models are planes and scratch projects. Ships were always my biggest interest but they also require huge amount of free time.
At least I'll be always focused on Pacific Theater(my nickname won't be confusing). Doesn't matter if it's tank, half-track, command car, destroyer, battleship, fighter aircraft, bomber, or maybe even a bunker. Keep building great models, Ray!

Very impressive young fella. I look forward to the arrival of my USS Ward. Hopefully will be built before 12/7.
