SMS Natter, 1880 HMV
Having begun following DRG’s gorgeous SMS Emden, I decided to build a pair of card models before starting an HMV Emden for myself. First was JSC’s SMS Viribus Unitis, my favorite Great War dreadnought. The next was HMV’s SMS Natter, German coastal defense ship. Arguably one of the worst classes of ships ever built, ever. I wanted to try a smaller HMV kit before tackling the much larger Emden to familiarize myself with how they build.
I usually build in resin/scratch in 1/700 so these 1/250 monsters are like 1/1 for me! At any rate, I’ll probably build the other ship, SMS Wespe that comes with Natter at a later stage. |

Beautiful work.
I agree. The larger scales of card ships makes them very attractive projects. Mike |

Outstanding! I eagerly look forward to your Emden.
I really like your model of Natter. It looks rather like a mixture of a gun brig, a river monitor, and a tugboat. Don |

Excellent work, very nice build. These (Wespe & Natter) were on my list instead of the Emden, having seen yours I think they will be next.
