HMHS Britannic 1:1200

Hey guys and gals,

I've been away predominantly working on a house extension so I haven't had a lot of spare time.
I started this model a long time ago and I thought I'd finish her off. Seems a little fitting given the current pandemic situation and I now have quite a bit more time at home!

Anyway, I sourced the model from currell.net . It's 1:1200 scale which was challenging.
My intention is to build all three olympic class liners and display them together.

Here are the pics of Britannic

I may start an Olympic build thread (in 1918 dazzle scheme) if there is interest?

And I thought a 1/600 scale ship was challenging, that's awesome. Is the compass platform even a millimeter square? The trio sounds like a brilliant idea

Thanks. The compass platform is a couple of mm square. I used tweezers a lot on this build!
I also made my own adjustments to the model mostly around the extra life boat structure between funnel 3 & 4 and created the blue ensign flag and white star line pennant.
They are well designed models, but the counter is particularly tricky.

Very nicely done, especially in this small scale.

I have a collection of 1/1200 and 1/1250 ships and in the fifties built a few from wood. I envy your ability to produce this beautiful ship on paper at that scale.

I can't wait for the dazzling Olympic.

This is a really beautiful work. A little piece of art!
I think it's the greatest model I've seen here this week. I like it a lot.
Congrats!

As I've built two 1/1000 ships in paper I can say it's not something difficult. All you need to have is a good eye and a good hand.

@Decaturbeginner - I just measured the compass platform. you are right. it's 1mm square.

I'll start a new thread for the Olympic build.
