That really is a stunning built.

You used some real rocks for the base?

rock bottom

Kevin WS,

In the photos they certainly appear to be rocks but it is just a printed surface.
I have hopes that this sunken Yamato build will gain much interest for our craft at November’s Ship Modelers Association (SMA) meeting.

Thank you Bob - a beautiful model and one I was considering.

You have inspired me and I may well start this soon as soon as I have finished a current model - no more in progress then 2 at a time!

I replied to another card modeler and thought it should be shared here:

This is an unusual display model that I could not leave alone
and had to stick with it until it was finished; not like so many other in-process
floating around in several stages of construction leaving me
wondering what all the cut out parts are in several zip lock plastic bags.

I did have trouble referencing the box like attachments to the gun housings. ( I know little about boat terminology.)
On line photos of the actual ship did not help. They looked peculiar on the model so I twisted them where I thought they made sense,

Other than that I did make extra cylinder housings that appeared needed and not indicated within the instructions.

Have fun with this one,

BP

A remarkable subject for a paper model and very intriguing! It reminds me of those Robert Ballard books of the discovery of the Titanic, and the Midway and Guadalcanal shipwrecks, in particular these fascinating drawings of the wrecks on the sea bottom.

Great model.

Erik
