Yuri Gagarin

I flipped a 2 of 3 coin toss and Hornet lost.

This is my effort at Orel's Yuri Gagarin.

The laser cut frames were exceptionally easy to assemble and I didn't use my normal large glass plate and internal framing to maintain straightness.

The kit offers two options to build the tip of the bow, I chose the conical version. The framing and sheets are so well designed I didn't use rib paper rib wideners until about 25% of the way back. If the remainder of the model is this well designed and printed I expect few issues (knock on wood) until I get to the massive dishes.

The lower hull sheathing required about 6 hrs to complete. i will add the propeller support and rudder after sheathing the upper hull, and the propeller until after the ship is completed.

I can only hope my kit builds as well as Marco's superb rendition.

Not much reason to post on this, what with Marco's build. Have been working the ship, relatively easy model. Orel's fit is tremendous and that really makes like easier.

I'll need to add resin to the pool, any suggestions?

Looks spiffy to me! Thanks for sharing. It must have been a rather majestic ship to see in reality.

Looks sharp . . . the green decks make it stand out.
Sorry I can't help you with the swimming pool.
I have never built a ship that had one.

Whoa, disaster averted. The center bases and entire stern superstructure are not glues in place yet, fortunately. I walked in the room to see this. She didn't budge and I wasn't about to make her move, had time to photo the animal.

Godzilla has nothing on this.

Absolutely no damage, she walked off after a few more minutes. Have no idea how long she sat there and I'm guessing this wasn't the 1st time. Only shifted the position of the forward larger dish support.

New place to store kit is the display shelf in the upper right of the photo.

The cat sits where it fits!

But thank god your frame is sturdy enough! If it was one of my ships, it would have gotten flat.

Yoosh, you were lucky Paper Fan.

My cats often come and visit when I am modelling - no damage so far. Only a few loose pieces that were cut out and got stuck in tails have been lost!

I have put a link to your post on the "For The Cat" thread..

Really enjoying your build PAPER FAN of this great ship and great model. Looking really good.

I hope you don't mind me saying but there is plenty of reason to post this build. I know Marco posted his build of this model but for me (and I am sure many people on this forum) the fun is watching and following each build evolve no matter how many times it has been made by other people. So looking forward to the next episode in this models story!

Regards

Kevin
