We're close to the end... "Fighting Mary" is almost finished.
I just have build a catapult and make the rigging. Sea diorama will be the last thing to do.

Thanks for all kind words.

Don, that floatplane is an OS2U Kingfisher, not a SO3C. But I think they may look similar in this scale. From what I know, USS Maryland BB-46 had Kingfishers through the entire WWII.
Here in attachment is the enlarged photo(taken from pdf file) of my OS2U.

USS Maryland is completed in 100%...
This is the last stage of this project - Pacific diorama.

Sorry - The tip of the starboard float looked like the spinner of the SO3C. I see now that it is a Kingfisher. Don

Excellent project! Are you planning to build more of these ships? I recently came across an article in an IPMS/USA publication on scratchbuilding the WWII-era New Mexico class in 1:700 scale, with deck patterns. Let me know if you're interested.

USS Maryland BB-46 (1944)

Finished!

Well, what can I say...
It's an incredible feeling to see results of those 2 months of scratch building. The project wasn't easy but I really enjoyed every hour of it. Pacific War has always been my biggest passion and I did my best to recreate "Old Mary" in her configuration from 1944 as accurate as possible in 1/1000 scale.

David, answering your question, yes, I'm planning to build more ships in this small scale. But the next scratch project will be rather a Japanese or Australian subject.

So, looks like it's time to leave the dry dock.
