Building F. Prudenziati's Ships - Without Instructions?

Hello!

I just found out about F. Prudenziati's wonderful card models and downloaded several from his site (through the Wayback Machine). I am particularly smitten with his WWII era Italian warships, and downloaded all of the 1/200 scale plans.

I notice that only the largest and most formidable of the builds, the Zara, includes instructions... However, as I am just getting into the work of a shipwright, I'd prefer to start with one of the smaller examples. Do people simply man up and go about building these without instructions, or might it even be easier to start with the Zara and learn about Prudenziati's construction techniques via those instructions, then go back and build the smaller ships?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question... I could not find another place that seemed appropriate. Thanks in advance!

-Gregory

zara is the only one i have ever seen with instructions.i did manage some of the others years ago without them just by trial and error and working strictly by part number sequences, you could through forum and see if there ever any build threads for these ships

I don't know about the instructions, but do you have the link to the Prudenziati's the Wayback Machine?
Thank you

I just found this link on another thread that was bumped up recently, regarding his work. A lot of stuff still seems to be available, but apparently most of his ships did not have instructions...

His Zara does have clear instruction diagrams. I built his Scharnhorst without, which wasn't very difficult either.

(Also just to mention that I made an add-on to his Zara. Check the forum's downloads section if interested)

Thank you! Armed with that I may make it my first attempt! I won't begin a ship until I return from a month-long stay in Russia to visit my wife's family... Hopefully I'll find a hobby shop in Moscow that carries card models!

I am currently building the Zara and posting it in here:
RN Zara 1:200, Prudenziatti

I am following some very detailed instructions provided with the kit. But it needs some corrections, thus becoming a more advanced model.

I have also built the Scharnhorst, but only posted the final steps.
DKM Scharnhorst 1:400
It was much easier than the Zara, since it doesn't need many adaptations and corrections.

You are welcome to any questions.

Kind regards

Ed
