Hello Bazz,

According to Wikipedia the gun deck is 57 meters in length, so at 1/96 scale that should be just about the 65cm you ended up with, rather than 109. Even the overall length of 69 meters would not be close to 109cm, so that figure sounds too long.

The Shipyard HMS Victory in 1/96th scale is 1040mm in length and that includes the bow sprit.
You need plenty of room for the over 6000 parts.

Good luck with him.

Victory for the first model is a very ambitious plan. After 20 years of building sailing ships I am still not sure if I would "win" with this ship. But good luck and I will watch your work with pleasure.

I too would start with something much simpler. Either a small frigate or a schooner. I have recently purchased the Shipyard Models Berbice in 1/96 scale as I didn't feel like I could afford the version in 1/72 scale. The kit I bought has the lazer cut framework, wood dowels for masts and yards and easy to assemble blocks and tackle and ran me right at $100. I plan to start a build log as soon as I get started on the project.
