I got the railings on...made from thin wire...and all the same height by using the little toothpick gauge shown in the photo. Some finished railings are seen in the other shot. Now just rig, weather a bit and she'll be done. Probably tomorrow!

Just went and looked through the whole thread: this has been quite a project.
That stanchion height gauge is a good idea. And speaking of good ideas, yes, that laser cut skeleton was a very good one, both from the creator of it & the purchaser who decided to splurge on it.

Thanks, SW! I've never used the laser stuff but man it sure made a difference with this guy. Straight and true...
I got all the rigging on and put some Prismacolor and pastel weathering on the ship. Probably a bit overdone considering this thing never really sailed in horrible conditions but I like it. I still need to add a couple of RN figures for scale and make a nice stand so here is a teaser of how she'll look! Dan |

Thanks, Everyone! It really looks quite elegant sitting on top of my wife's China cabinet. Did I mention she's out of town for the next week? Getting lots of important modeling done!
I also ordered some RN sailors which should arrive in a week. I'll be putting a couple of them on and make a nice wooden stand and then I'll take a couple more glamor shots. Thanks for the interest. Dan |
