Thanks, RM. Here is a bit more as I started to plank this sucker! Fit is pretty nice and things are lining up well. Maybe I'll get it all stripped this weekend before a business trip next week. That's the goal, anyway!

Got the bow skins completed. Any fits or miss-matches are my own fault. The model is well-designed and looks dang good. I also got the wire in for the bow planes as well...
More soon! Dan |

Thanks, RoyalOak...I'm still learning but the seams do seem pretty good thus far. A testament to the designing more than anything!
Here are some horrible pictures of the whole thing skinned. It's hard to get a shot since it's so long but you get the idea. All the superstructure is just sitting there. Now I need to work on the keel and all the extra bits, props, planes etc. that go on and around then hull. Really looking cool, though. I'm so glad I got this kit... Cheers, Dan |

Well Folks...back from Oahu and all I can say is...if you ever go, make time to go see the USS Bowfin! It was the first sub I've ever been in and holy buckets! What a machine. I got there early and spent a lloooooonnnnngggg time inside. Just lovely and awesome.
So now, back to the M1! That visit sure made me excited to keep moving. I started making the keel and it fits well so far. One picture is trying to show the concave nature of the the parts that will hopefully blend nicely to the hull. That happens tomorrow! Thanks for looking...Dan |

I have to agree, it's an amazing experience getting inside these subs and finding out just how cramped they are. It's hard to imagine what it would be like stuck in one of these, hundreds of metres below the surface, let alone in battle, under attack from above. It gives you a great deal of appreciation for what their crews must have gone through. |
