I have an old John Hathaway catalogue, I think from the late 1970s, that lists the first 26 Waterline Warships produced by HG Watkins. I attach scans. There are at least three more:
WL-27 Light Cruiser Flint
WL-28 Japanese Cruiser Natori
WL-29-British Light Cruiser Sheffield
Anyone know of any beyond those 29?

Then Watkins also designed models of
the ship "Exodus" 16 1/2" long
WL-501 the Bolton Paul Defiant 1:48
WL-502 the Northrop B-49 Bomber "The Wing" 1:72

(I think Watkins used to work for Northrop, and may have met John Hathaway there.)

Thanks for this, Rob!

That document is a fine memento of paper modeling in the 70s. The pen and ink sketch by Jacobs of the Maryland or California-class battleship is in a style that I like very much. Judging from the images, the models built up into excellent replicas of the ships.

I only know of Watkins models from discussions in this forum, but would love to see one of the actual models - in the original form or built up some day.

Don

I have two ship models here: Renown and Surcouf. I had copies of Achilles and Dido, but they have been sold.

Not from me: I got these from collector's clearing their attics. Of course one never knows - just check the Collectors' Items on various pages on my site every now and again.

In my experience they are super rare. One appears on eBay maybe once a year. Late former member Darwin had the best collection I know of and many of his were scanned.

How about contacting Peter Heesch, and asking if he might have some of the kits, or if he knows what the entire catalog is?

My apologies Darwin! Not "late" at all, and still very much with us. In fact Happy Birthday!
