ship models published: SS United states, KMS Pinguin, t-2 tanker, USS Nautilus, several sailing vessels like yachts, HMS Bounty etc.

some scans are available on the internet, original copies of the Marabout Junior Series are still for sale on ebay, delcampe and other 2nd hand market sites
Wow! Thanks so much for the great information. Now I really want to go back in and make adjustments or start from scratch.
Neat idea of them to include a simple model with each story. Wonder if I can find any on the web? Am going to search!
Even kid’s stories can be fun to read as an adult. Still partial to the handful of “Tom Corbett-Space Cadet” books. The ebooks are always on my phone/pad.

What is the scale of the final model?
Sorry, I don’t know.
Do not even know scale of original print (if it had one).

That's a nice clean up you did there.

I think the original designer got their wires crossed a bit. The model looks to me to represent the WWII type VIIB.

There were two U53's commissioned into the german navy.

In WW1 U53 was a type 51
In WW2 U53 was a type VIIB

Sorry to be a pedant.

Don’t be sorry, I’m interested. It DOES look much more like a type VIIB.

i´m not an expert on this subject, google provided me with all knowledge about this subject. .
the publisher was based in the french speaking part of belgium and afaik the bulk of publications was in french.
the hero of the series was called `bob morane`. there is a fan community on the internet, like this forum (in french). apparently some of the models were based on the stories, some others wern't.
this is a gallery with some of the models, from some models the backside is scanned as well, with info and building instructions (in french), but also with the scale.
the images in this gallery are in low resolution (probably taken from an auction site), however a small selection on is available in higher resolution on some other sites, like this website or this fan site there are more sites.blogs with simular quality scans

and to finish, a list of all models and the issue they were attached to

i could not find a link to the t-2 tanker with good image quality, however i downloaded this one several years ago from an italian paper model blog

some sample pics, hope this is enough inspiration to roam the internet

UPDATE:

found the t-2 tanker via the webarchive

Thank you so much for the "historique" information.
Very interesting the 2.5D, and many unknown models (for me).

here's another list from a fansite, with a selection of the models in higher resolution.

scans will show the models do not need to be glued..... i have been told designers choose this solution because of poor quality of paper and glue

to solve the riddle about the u-53 model, the backside information reveals it is indeed the ww2 u-53

and there's an even better scan of the t-2 tanker:
