UDon 1/100 TypeVIIc U boat build

I've been making UDon's Uboat type VIIc for around a year and a half. This has been my first highly detailed paper build, so there has been a lot of learning and experimentation along the way.

It has been a really good build, and the model is really accurate and goes together well.

I decided quite early on, that I would paint the model and and create a historical representation of a particular boat. I chose U552.

I'm not going to recreate an entire build thread on here, as I've almost completed her.
I will post up final pictures once complete, unless anyone wants to see any specific part of this build up to now.

All that is left is to complete the 8.8cm deck gun, periscopes, deck railings aerials and control cables plus final weathering.

Further progress below of the 8.8cm deck gun following on from my hello post on the welcome desk.

The scale of these parts are really at my current skill level limit. Once it gets some paint, it should pull together hopefully.

P.S. I'm rubbish at taking photos.

WOW, that is detailed. Very nice work. I look forward to seeing photos of the rest of the sub.

PS. I'm rubbish at taking photos too.

Great work. Don't take this the wrong way, but you must be a lot younger than me. 1.5 yrs on a type VII is a serious investment in time.

Thanks Paperfan.

I've had quite a few breaks from it and grab an hour or two a week (usually) to fit around family, work and everything else.

I'm not the quickest and some of that is the additional thinking and learning time with this media type.

It has been quite an investment of my time, and I'm itching to do something else, but I can't give up now.

When I install the deck gun, I'll get some of the rest of the sub in the photo (just a little) for a tease.
It'll probably be blurry anyway.

Cheers

Steve

That's really cool. I'm convinced that it will be a gem when finished. Your priorities are perfect.

To be honest most of my builds are on days when i can't be out and about. In the evening my tv viewing is like 1930, i listen but work on the kits. I have no children so i can't relate.

OK. I've pushed on with the deck gun and got it done.

I'm not unhappy with how it turned out as I'm still learning, but this was a real challenge. I think the trouble is it's right at the end of a long build and I just want to get it finished.
That's not a good frame of mind to be doing anything.

That is the last of the major parts to build. Periscopes next.
