You mention scanning, so why not scan the parts which you want to add swastikas too, import the scan into GIMP or inkscape, add the swastikas, then reprint the part?
Not sure if it would work, the reprint part may not match the original, but worth a try?

Thanks, yes I thought of doing something similar, but just the white circles.

I'd want to retain the deck planking and other details within the insignia, so I think scanning and editing would be better.

Holy moly. That is going to be a long, but eventually satisfying build.
I'm looking forward to seeing how you progress with it.
Good luck.

I would probably go with painting the swastika.

First though, I might attempt scanning the the piece, then adding the swastika using GIMP or equivalent and then printing out.

Would probably take a bit of trial and error, but you wouldn't risk anything other than time, paper and ink?
Just a thought.

Thanks, yes, painting it gives one chance, scanning gives a few chances.

Check out the technique on the following site and see if it can be adapted to the deck insignia you want to do.
Ghost Signs for Cardstock Models Using The GIMP.
The final line states it can be used with Photoshop also.

Really looking forward to your progress report. This is one major undertaking.
You might want to take a look at the German language forums. They have people who already done this model or have it under construction. It could help avoid some pitfalls. Although based on your previous reports I'm pretty sure you are fully capable of dealing with any issue...

Can't help with the swastika. Personally I would build as it is. Otherwise modifying original art-work in graphic software would be my first choice.

Olo, not sure if this is of any help but this guy in Florida is a good source for display cases. Good luck.

Darius

Do you know anyone in GTA who is building display cases?
