I grew up watching Star Blazers as a young teen.
I especially liked the fact that they were flying in a real Naval ship.
Several years ago I came cross files for making a papercraft Space Battleship Yamato. It was only later I realized they were pirated when I realized there were scale differences between some of the pages. I managed to get the hull together and was working on the big gun turrets when I realized it wasn't going to work.
I'd still like to make it one day. And I've found a few copies of the original book on eBay. Seems it was a one-off design for publication.
UHU02 is currently working on a WWII version of the Original Battleship Yamato. With extensive internal detail. I'm curious about his design, but I don't know if I'm motivated enough to build that version.

Digital Navy has a 1:250 model of the Yamato in her original 1941 appearance (both full hull and waterline), for those who don't want to build all those little AA guns. She looks rather streamlined without the added armament.

What a great kit. Would be neat to have other kits like this...Bismark, Hood, Hornet. The list could go on and on and on...…. I did get the JSC Pearl Harbor kit. Hasn't been built however.
