Higgins 78' Higgins Early and Late

Thank you Rock55:
Here is a comparison between the early and the late Higgins,
Also in action against the Tokyo Express with an Elco 80'

ps: The destroyer is a simplified colorized and enlarged version of one of the already simple Papercraft Etsutan in 1/1000

Scene with PTs versus the DD looks right out of a miniatures game!
Had a lot of fun in the 1990s (in another city from where I now live) with a naval miniatures game group.

WIP Elco 80'

Thank you Southwestforest for stopping by and commenting on the models.

I started to build the Elco 80' in 1/400 and found few changes that I have to make before I release it. This is going to be an early model with no radar.

I just saw "They Were Expendable" all the boat were gray in the movie!

The boat need the twin 50 MGs and the 20 mm, mast and dingy.

ps: Dear Rock55 and Lorenzo, hopefully before Valentines it will arrive

Given the movie was filmed in Florida, that does not strike me odd as boats on the US east coast which were likely attached to training units had no real operational need for camouflage.

Happy Valentine!

Dear All:

I just finished two early Elco 80's: one in factory gray, the other in green with an antitank 37 mm gun, similar to the one used by PT-109.
The last picture is a comparison of the scratch build I did before I knew I was a paper modeler, the extra model, and my newest design.

I hope you like them, and if so let me know.

Once again you have done great work. These should provide so many possibilities for modellers to create all sorts of dioramas and variants on the boats! Outstanding work! Now I am really excited to see what comes next! Keep up the great work!
