PT Boat World - History and Modeling the few photos I've found suggest the Adaptor Scheme/Zebra scheme was used on boats that served in the Pacific and not in Europe, the sideview of PT 208 in my previous post shows a different scheme this is PT-170 Last edited by Foute Man; 02-24-2020 at 12:24 PM. |

Hello again. Not to stir up any trouble but a modified adaptor scheme was used on Higgins boats in the Med theater. There is evidence that a very modified scheme was applied to some boats operating in the Channel during the D-Day invasions. A really good source for this is PT boat forum. It is free to join and loaded with photos and info. That is ptboatforum.com Take a look...

However you could help me out by naming the hull numbers of the boats the scheme was applied to... either in the English Channel or the Mediterranean sea. I'm still waiting for approval to access the ptboat forum though |

Thank you Foute Man and Rock55:
If you find something that shows a side view of Higgins in adaptor scheme please let us know. So far what is apparent is that the stripes in the Higgins are broader than in the Elcos, making them better for small scale modeling. If anyone has more info please let us know! |

Hello. From the photos I have downloaded I can only make out two positive IDs...PT-207 and 208 with this scheme. Other photos are too dark to make out boat numbers. The nice folks at PT Boat forum can give you far more info. If you cannot find the information, just post a question. Someone will have the answers for you. As to the boats in the Channel during D-Day, PT-501, an 80 ft Elco, had an interesting variation of this scheme. Anyway, good luck and good hunting!!

Very strange, but in my previous posts I placed some direct links to several images, but for some reasons the images aren't visible anymore...... so in my next posts I will link to webpages with the images that are no longer visible in this thread, and I will also upload the images themselves
but first of all, Rock55 is right about PT-207, serving with MTBRon 15 in the Mediterranean, check out this page on Navsource.org and most of all check out this photo of PT-207 in the "Zebra Scheme" The Navsource.org indexpage for all PT-Boats can be found here |
