"The model is a little to big (the actual vessel just short of 50m) for a letter one pager in 1/200 (it would be a little less than 25 cm) , so the final model will be in my standard 1/400, aligning with JSC, Gerry, and Bernie."
Hi Pablo, its good to see you cranking out these designs, the LCS looks a very interesting type and should lend itself to further adaptions. Thanks for the mention above, though I must admit that you were my inspiration for changing to 1/400 scale. At this scale there are lots of subjects available with a plethora of accessories and all relatively inexpensive too. Also, they are easy to adapt and still fit on A4 size. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.

in this pdf file you'll find a description of the LSC(L) 102 and plans for the decks (not the hull). The shape and dimensions of the hull of this type of vessel is the same as the LCI The floating museum (LSC(L) 102) can also be found on wikipedia |

abbreviations are always a source of confusion for me, but of course it must be LCS (L)....

First draft done
Thank you, Foute Man, and Cardist:
Very encouraging! All the info that Foute Man refer to me is going to be useful for the final model and I may do a Measure 31 rather than (boring?) a Measure 2 ship. I am attaching several references for WWII amphibious craft, and one of riverine craft that include some info about the LSSL. The first prototype is done, and it resembles the diagram I showed first, but has some details that were later redesign in particular the covers of the stairs aft the ship and the director, which is a solid cylinder (my mistake) instead of a perching cylinder, and no rockets in the front. ps: happy Thanksgiving, which is every day! |

By the way CaptJ provided these very useful sites. Some of them already mentioned by Foute Man. And one of them is forbidden for me:

Hello.....The LCS is great, and I am looking forward to the release. But I have to ask where the DE conversion is from. That one would go especially well with the PT Boats.....Have a Happy ad SAFE Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!

Hi Rock55:
The conversion is from Lou Coatney's Butler Destroyer Escort that may be found here: Lou Coatney: FREE BUTLER (USS Samuel B. Roberts, DE413) class U.S. Destroyer Escort The APD in detail is in one of my original threads: Amphibious Warfare Vessels in 1/400, and the LCS(L)3 probably belongs more there than here: Amphibious Warfare Vessels in 1/400 I hope that everyone that celebrate Thanksgiving had a nice (and different) one. In any case thanks giving as an action is every day! |
