Is this something you've tried? I have a low cost 3D printer and have experimented with some stuff to enhance models. Not sure how ship railings would go but if you have some ideas and don't have your own printer, I'd be happy to help out with some testing or experiments. 3D printer filament is available in a wide range of colours and plastics (even some impregnated with wood fibers) which could eliminate the need for painting in some cases.

Get two of the smaller caliber guns done. Here are the 6 pdr and Nordenfelts I kinda mod'd the Nordens a bit. I added a pieces to represent the magazine and the hand wheel. Not that you'll see them since they are a bit small. Hope you don't mind Carl.

I have to get the 3 pdrs done yet then on to more detailing.

Working on the masts. They're a bit tricky and skinny. Hoping they look o.k. once done.

Main mast is done. Turned out looking good. I made a boo boo as you may notice on the first pic. Thank goodness I was able to get it off and into the right location.

Nice work on the masts. I always struggle with these skinny rolled parts such as cannons and masts and you seem to have handled it well.

All done! Well, except for railing and rigging. For now though, all parts accounted for and ready to go to the fleet. Really happy on this one.

Thanks, Ed. I do struggle on the masts but somehow they work out. I reinforce them by stuffing them with either a piece of tube styrene or wire. That's my little secret to keeping them looking good.

There is a 3 pounder gun on the top crows nest and two on the main nest, mid way up. Can you imagine trying to hit something from them? Yeesh.

Real nice work Greg.
The boat storage area is packed with detail.
You captured some good photos of that area as well as the rest of the ship.
