Thanks Kevin and Knife,
The bottom is finally on, hundreds of tabs to glue down. I am not particularly pleased with the result, it is kind of wrinkly. This is entirely my fault. The model is computer designed and seems not too tolerant of sloppy cutting. The cause was the side pieces (part 134) ended up being bowed out. I think that this is because the tabs weren't going in all the way. I would advise others to cut the throats between the tabs extra deep. Also get both parts 134 in place before gluing anything. Anyway now it is on to installing floors (decks). cheers Jim |

hi all,
The next task is the deck pieces. The ship has one deck but it is divided into 6 sections, between the major transverse bulkheads. The frames have to be slotted into the pieces. Tricky but not too hard. cheers Jim |

hi all,
Starting to put in walls and doors in the officers section. The second pic is I think the captains cabin, his bunk is bigger than the other officers. The third I think is the wardroom since it does not have a bunk. The last two are the junior officers cabins, four on each side. I found 2 glitches in the model: parts 168R, L are both labeled 168R; The doors part 161 have brown wood tabs but they are supposed to match white paint. cheers Jim |

Correction that is part 158.

If you thought threading walls around stanchons in the wardroom was difficult, wait until you get to the boiler room. I botched it up a bit, but here’s some photos so you can see how it goes together.

You are right Knife, it was a challenge.
I tried front half first on one side and back half first on the other. Conclusion no difference. You are streaking ahead of me. I just got to where the pics you posted are. The next step would be the rudder and prop but I will delay that. Too much chance of collateral damage. cheers Jim |

The next items on the plans are the steering station and the anchor with its winch.
I have some doubt about them being damaged. They stick out. The second pic is the posts and ladder that support the steering station. The third shows the anchor line routing with the fourth a trial install of the winch. The last two show everything in place. Notice that the anchor is already missing a fluke. I fear for it and the steering wheel. cheers Jim |

Some progress, washbasins pulleys and heads.
The pulleys are for the rudder cables. Starting on what I think is the condenser. A ship couldn't carry enough water to use a total loss water system like the locomotives. cheers Jim |

Well the whatever it is is finished, possibly it's the condenser.
The pumping linkage makes me wonder. Why does a condenser need pumping. Last pic shows the location. The linkage is clearly driven by the steam engine. cheers Jim |

A little more progress.
The port side ventilation fan with the tiny steam cylinder that drives it via the leather belt. Not my best work. I should have not got so close with the camera. cheers Jim |
