Nice work.
The artwork representing the deck planking looks a lot like the HMV Beowulf.
Perhaps both kits were produced around the same time.

Hi Michael

Both the Victoria Louise and the Beowulf were designed by Markus Wiekowski, one of the earlier designers working for HMV. He also designed the early SMS Panther, SMS Sachsen, SMS Brandenburg and SMJ Hohenzollern models (among others) before "retiring" due to his day job as an architect becoming too busy. Most of his designs were executed by hand rather than computer.

He is really nice guy and not just because he's a card model designer :-)

Best wishes

David

Thanks for the background information David.
Sounds like Markus was responsible for some of the real "classic" HMV kits.
Perhaps someday he will return to model design.
Regards,
Mike

Well, that's indeed nice information David.
Let's hope he will someday return to model designing, his models are really great.

I continued with the bridge by making the front panel:

A row of windows was placed on top of this:

Then I continued with the front of the ship.
Three parts where placed to cover the last visual piece of the frame:

The two side panels where first preformed:

The first glued on the frame:

And the second:

Nice execution at the forward end. Those curved pieces are a challenge.
What comes out of those doors on the side of the hull, just forward of the gun turret?

Nice job, and classic lines - very interesting.

Would be great if you can also talk a bit about your method of shaping the parts and things that concerned you - would be good for subscribed newbies like me to pick up tips!

Thanks,
Alan
