Hmv Victoria Louise 1:250

Hi everyone,

I just started a new build of the victoria louise from HMV.
I would like to make a building report of the project on this forum, this will be also my first report here.

The victoria louise is the first ship I tried when I start building more then fifteen years ago. That was not a great success, and halve way I stopped it and throw it away.
But now, a little more experienced, I want to try it again.

So I ordered the model again:

In the package there's the model, existing of 1713 parts, and the lasercut set with 791 parts.

I already make a start with the frame:

So this is it for now, a hope to keep you informed about the further steps.

Good lord, but I think that I built this model in about 1970! It was terrific then - although my parents thought it was too big and tossed after I had gone off to school.

It makes me happy to see it again and you are doing far better than I did in those days with only a single-edge razor and white glue (Elmer's)!!

Keep it going!

Thanks, yes it's a really old model from the time that everything was still drawn by hand.
You see it in the fact that the parts does not fit perfectly, but with a little adjustment it is fine to work with.

So I continue the build with the tabs between the ribs, with the four rotatable canons on it.

Well, I made the canons non-rotatable, because I don't see the point of it. There's also a little wall to make next to the canons:

After that it was time to assemble the deck.
Unfortunately, this consist of two parts, but it fits well together:

And glued to the frame:

Thanks

I continued with the construction of the sidewalls of the hull.

I punched out the portholes with a screw punch, and put some blue foil behind it:

It fits very well, nog big problems occurred.

Only on the back it was way to low:

Not a really big issue because there will be a little balcony, which hopefully will cover it:

Looking nice.
Yes, that aft platform (admirals walk) should cover that gap at the stern.

I have made some progress with the deck.
Four platforms were installed where later the cannons will be placed.

Also the curved little balconies were placed on the wall:

Then I continued with two little canons:

The back of the bridge, windows were cutted out and replaced with foil:
