Or, in the wonderful translation of Beowulf by Seamus Heaney published in 2000, as the body of Shield Sheafson, a Danish king, is laid to rest in his boat , ready to be sent out to sea-burial:
"A ring-whorled prow rode in the harbor, ice-clad, out bound, a craft for a prince..." Man, that is poetry to be read aloud - I am going to have to find time to read the whole thing (in English).
