Hr.Ms. Tromp light cruiser
Hello everybody. It has already been some time ago since I posted a thread on this forum. This time I want to share some pictures of my latest build.
One of our ships that fought in the Pacific during the 2nd World War. Trapped in the Far East by the over-run of the Netherlands and by the occupancy of the Dutch East Indies. Tromp's destiny lay in the Indian Ocean and Pacific onslaughts. The ship became one of the highest decorated Dutch warships of World War 2. Often referred to as 'The Ghost Ship', the crew preferred to call her 'The Lucky Ship', since she was no less than five times claimed to be sunk. |

Nice work.
It's always good to see subjects that you are not familiar with and learn some history. Did you scratch build this?

Thank you for sharing, a fine heroic ship.
I presume 1/200, from whom? |

Hello wireandpaper, thanks for your comment. The model is from Scaldis Publishers and the scale is 1:250. A lot of people underestimate the military operations of our navy in the Pacific during the 2nd World War. So our ships are not so wellknown.

And really interesting I must say.
It has a resemblance to the panzershiffe. The JSC is in my to do list. |

I started October last year with re-drawing the Dutch National Archives drawings of De Ruyter, with in the back of my mind of making a scale 1:100 cut open model of the ship (and maybe a book). I have downloaded hundreds of photographs from the Dutch Archives of the in- and exterior of the ship. By the way, your model looks very good !! |
