Finished the hanger deck sufficient to start hull plating. Sorry for the images, new computer still don't have photoshop. Amazing how bad Microsoft handles image editing, things like crop and resizing are a pain in the ass.

Model is well designed and the bow fit is almost flawless. Part number 3 is a bit undersized but easily compensated for.

Hull sides installed. Plenty of margin material available and relatively easy installation.

Now it's really starting to come together! Color scheme came out well, a real hallmark of the early war years. These schemes were later proven less effective than hoped, and discontinued in favor of other measures, but they were good for 'morale', (and future model builders).

Hornet's camo was unique to her and just a few other ships, too busy to paint it out. She still wore it at her end at Santa Cruz. Personally 1944 US pacific camo was my favorite. US Navy ships never look better. Worst US camo was the end of war dual gray and blue decks, no contrast at all.

Next up the bow and under deck framing. This model is almost easy, highly recommend her to everyone.

Hello Paper Fan,

what a fantastic kind of a clean build. If your carrier model is read (with all the planes on it) you have an eyecatcher par excellence!
