GPM Emilia 1:100 Scale
I present the 1/100 scaled coastal freighter Emilia. This is a superbly well designed model. The fits are excellent to this point. With the Virus all about and trying to avoid it I may be able to complete this model in short order.
The framing is fragile but the internal cargo bays stiffen the entire structure. I sheathed the lower hull using a technique Marco recently explained, cut the pieces in the middle then apply them from the side of the hull to the bottom. This really seems to allow for much better alignment and I thank him for the tip. The hull sides are complete unsupported, I used two coin jars to jig the hull then applied the vertical frames one at a time working from the far edge back to the prow. Used white glue for the sides and CA glue for the stanchion base. Didn't what to expect but was very happy with the results. |

With all the curves in the hull, you have a beautiful, but tricky project.
I like the look of this kind of freighter. Nice work. Question: What are the dimensions of this ship? Thanks, Mike |

Thanks Paper Fan. Yes, if my math is correct that is about 125 feet? 33 foot beam? Much smaller than I thought. The complexity of your frame makes this look much larger. Mike Last edited by Michael Mash; 04-13-2020 at 07:51 AM. Reason: Added comment. |
