Lovely build! Some people seem to think it's complete, but as you mentioned the final touches are missing. Have you made any progress over the past days?

Hi, Kilroy Indeed there are still a lot of things that are missing on the Nakhimov.. it's well faraway from to be terminated.. I think that it will take still some months to be completed. When I'll make some more adds, I'll post the pics. Also because, in the meantime, I like to "switch" from different models... at the same time of the Nakhimov I'm building another russian battleship, the BORODINO, always in paper and always in 1:200 scale. Also this model will take a lot of time to be completed... When both the ships (Nakhimov and Borodino) will be terminated, I'll start a couple of Italian Kingdom Navy (Regia Marina), the steam ramship RN Affondatore and the fast battleship RN Italia, both from Heinkel Models kit... A couple of very unusual ship (especially for the RN Italia.. very unusual in her first look with 6 funnels and 4 very large guns mounted in enchelon at midship) Anyway... happy paper modeling to everybody !!! ciao Jp

Hello to all worldwide paper modelers
At the end, after so long time I haven't updated this thread on the building of Admiral Nakhimov cruiser model, here are the pics of the model completed at 99,9% because are still missing only the anchor's chains (I'm still deciding if make the chains in metal or in paper...) Anyway, we can consider the model completed, included the transparent case and nameplates on the base. The "wooden" block below the hull are made, obviously, in paper :-) This model was really complicated to build, on the superstructures, especially with all boats put at their site, but my opinion is that the final result could be enough satisfying. In the meantime, while completing this model, I have continued to work on Borodino battleship model and I have also started a model of USS Brooklyn armored cruiser (ACR-3) always in 1:200 scale. In the next future I'll open a thread for this new model. Unfortunately, in this Covid-19 pandemic period, the spare time for hobbies is decreased and this is the reason for the more long time took for building the model. From the other hand less time for hobbies means more work activities and this is good.... (but the over-job leaves me more tired at the end of the day..) OK... now some pics of the Admiral Nakhimov model A big wish of an happy paper modeling to everybody and .... stay safe !! ciao Jp

Outstanding work JP.
Yes, this deserves to be protected from the dust. So years from now it will look as impressive as it does today. Also, good to hear the news you will open a report for your new project. Looking forward to it! Cheers, Mike |
