Waterline tutorial

If there's some interest for it, I have a photographic tutorial on how I make a waterline diorama, I have made several in the past, using - amongst other stuff - transparent acrylic paste and a photo frame. I have the tutorial on my blog, and I think it also was shown here in the thread of my Thunderchild vs. the tripods build but I could also post it here in the tutorial section as a separate thread. It is really not that hard and it is very realistic.

If you are referring to my Carpathia model, it was based on available waterline drawings. I do not know of any full-hull drawings of this ship, so making the kit into full-hull would require a bit of imagination and general knowledge of ship hulls. If someone wants to add a below-waterline hull for the kit, I will happily provide my 3D model of the upper hull for compatibility.

Wayne,

No he isn't, he is referring to the JSC model that Kasia started yesterday here on the forum

I just separated the off topic nature of waterline vs full hull

Having done so a few times, I can say the conversion effort is not for the faint-hearted. Better learn to do it yourself if you have such needs. Another option is to use similar hulls from other ships and hope they match. Some work out surprisingly well.

Personally I prefer full hulls, but I aknoweledge that they are harder to do and a lot of people won't have problems using a generic ocean picture of a ship wave as the ship base of a watherline model.
Many designer do the model in a way that can be split if necessary, and I think is the better option.
But for now all the ships I have assembled are full hull and I haven't run out of them, the day I need urgently to make an specific ship and I can't find a full hull of her, then I'll research and do my own sumerged hull. Anybody can do it if you dare to learn and try a bit
