Another quick update, did some work on the bridge and boiler downtakes. The forward bridge screen did not fit very well, so it has been removed for a bit of tweaking.

In this view can be seen the Bridge furniture and access companionway as well as the Oerlikon gun bases.

Engine room access hatch and screen here abaft the boiler room intakes. There will be another 20mm Oerlikon mount on this deck too. Various lockers and hatches in place.

Ahoy chums,

Another quick update. The part I was dreading was the funnel. Lots of internals and a deceptively complex shape, but, it worked just as designed and went together very quickly.

Separate smoke stacks inside.

Fitted in place.

While I was at it I fitted the ground handling gear and breakwater.

Ttfn.

Latest update.

fo'c'sle, quarterdeck and bridge fittings going on.

The anchor chains are from JSC.

The sloping bridge screens didn't fit properly, so they were separated and fitted individually, seemed to work well.

I am afraid that you are raising the standards for 1/400 scale models that it is going to be very difficult to imitate!
Very nice build, and educational!

Thanks Pablo, I am just having so much fun with this design and make.

Next up, some weapons for the after end.

Parts for the twin 4" mounting. apart from the barrels, which are plastic, all from paper.

The quad pom-pom has barrels made from scrap resin bits.

Sub assemblies in place.

Funny you should mention this Pablo, I am awaiting delivery of 1/400 scale crew from JSC!

A small update on various details.

After shelter deck with quad pom-pom and various lockers. Guard rails are from JSC.

Atherstone was fitted with an extra 20mm on the boiler down-take roof. The 20mm's are from Black-Cat models.

I have added various bits and bobs to the bridge and fo'c'sle. The bollards have a card base with the cleats from plastic rod. The support webs for the breakwater are from card and are included in the kit.
