PATROL BOAT RIVER 31 Mk.II 1/35
Hi guys,
Since the pandemic I had a lot time at home and doing some random model. This time I wanna take a shot for PBR 31 Mk.II on 1/35 scale. the design base on tamiya kit with the same scale. Here's some 3d early design. I plan to make for waterline shape for diorama purpose. Cheers |

thanks Vermin_King, turn out 1/35 came with a lot of goofy parts, I had to face with some various small parts, and need extra handle.
Here's some progress: cheers |

Looks good. Interesting to compare with Aaron Murphy's 1/50 version.

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished model as I have been hoping someone would do a larger scale PBR for quite some time. A comment on the water line and painting the hull below the water line. First the PBR did not have a water line as such. These boats could and did operate in 6 inches of water at full speed (28.5 kts) and that assumes that there was over 1000 lbs of ammo (3600 rounds of 50 Cal) on board. The lower hull was painted black, dark gray and sometimes olive drab. A red hull just makes for a good target especially on knight patrol. Jim Nunn

Thanks for detail info, water line here referred to a tamiya water line series, the model can set up into a diorama or on water surface .In these case I plan to make it and base on many references of plastic model. As you mentioned before, I already make some detail such as, Fire extinguisher ammo box, wood box, fuel tank, Jerry can, food container, river map, M16. Also I add the grenade launcher or right side, and M60 on left side. Cheers |
