Hello folks,

I begin a building report about this ship. I hope you enjoy it and I hope that I will succeed building a fine model. There is a report here in this forum, but without pics, except two at the end.

It is a fine kit with a very nice drawing and you can feel and smell the wood. Pics come up, when I'm ready with the first parts of frames.

Let us see some pics:

The stud for the model is reinforced by cardstock triangles (wasn't intended by the kit). But it seems to me a little bit unstable. The last two pics show the frame for the hull above the water.

Hello It is a nice boat. I did it and it is finished very decorative. Joining the lower part of the hull to the other half is the most complicated, but with a paper tape supplied by the kit, defects are concealed Good luck with the construction

Hello all,

I make a break building that ship. The reason is the frame. I made the frame with the cardstock coming with the kit. It is a very hard grey cardstock. This cardstock is very bad to sand and because the frames are so hard, they depress through the hull parts, that looks bad.

I ordered a second kit and put thwe frames onto a smoother cardstock and hope to overcome the difficulties with that approach.

Hello
So that the frames are not marked on the cardboard of the hull, you do not have to stick them on weaker cardboard, the gray one that comes with the kit is fully functional. Once the structure of the hull is made, gently sand the bevel frames, so that they take the shape of the lining, but without reducing their area. The solution is to glue cardboard strips (4mm on each side; total 8mm = 0,8cm) left over from the kit pages along the edge of the frames. And then when pasting the lining, almost not pressing, stroking the cardboard, that is, having very delicate fingers.

You should scan the entire kit, so you have a spare and not have to buy a new one
I did it
Cheers

Hello Liaut Mallorquin,
hello herky,

thank you for your advices and encourageing the second build, but be shure I don't do a third one, so it is no danger, that I buy this kit a third time.
