Thanks Bluenoser - I have a couple in my stash, but they're very old models, but reading yours it's inspiring. You describe the process really well.

To tie the Jibs down on the foredeck, 4 holes were provided either side. Photos show that the jib doesn't come to the deck as a single rope so I added some additional holes

And just how exactly should I attach ropes to these holes with no access to the other side of the deck and still be able to take some tension?
My solution was to cut a small strand of copper wire and fold it in half. I then tied the rope (thread) at the fold-over. I swelled out the center of the wire strand and then pushed each end through the deck. The wire acts as a stop and allows a small amount of tension to be placed on the rope. Finally a small drop of glue in the holes will ensure that it isn't coming out. |

While enjoying my morning sesame seed bagel it occurred to me that these little seeds are a nice size and color for a rigging block on this model...... I couldn't help myself.

All the Jibs are up. The seeds require patience to get on. The project just got a little bigger but I love the appearance.

I love the improvisation. At first I thought sesame seeds where those little blue fellas but as soon as I opened the pic, it really does look like a block! Would be interesting to know how you fixed them in place? Regards, Alan |

I just made ordinary knots and then applied glue to a small portion of the length of thread either side of the knot. Ideally I would try to wedge the seed edge on the glue coated thread lengths as this gives the appearance of the rope running through/around it. In some cases that wasn't possible in which case I would glue the seed on top of the knot as best as I could to give that appearance. I needed each one to dry before moving on. Fast drying glue usage here is good.
