Fletcher 1:600

I've been through some stuff, even more! I'm attempting to renew my interest by some low stress builds.

I had the sinovial fluid in my right middle finger burst out (your writer's bump?) and needed surgery. This happened while working on tank models ca. 2017. I got surgery in 2018 but have been wary of disturbing the finger.

I went back to an idea of 1:600 models (1 inch = 50 feet) with not much detail required. My limits are:
- nothing over double thick (~0.5mm thick parts)
- as much as possible, parts are scissors executable
- because of recent printer changes, a technique that I pioneered for myself with Fokker DVII models a few years back... the color needs to be on bright white paper.

Plus, despite my thoughts as a younger self, my fingers cannot take the strain of a detailed model with fat parts!

Hi to anybody that remembers me. Anybody else, feel free to ignore me. Who know if and when I will post an image? (I've almost finished version 1 of hull).

Carl

Hey Carl, welcome back. Was just wondering how you were doing a few days ago - guess it goes with that age territory we're getting into.

I am happy to see someone else designing ships in 1/600 - my preferred scale. I look forward to seeing your Fletcher.
Being 76 myself, I understand some of the health issues you are facing.

Glad to see you back Carl! I understand completely about the hand surgery. A few years back had my right hand operated on, then I self inflicted a missing chunk on my left hand.
Anxious to see you new developments!

Sorry to hear of your finger issues. Always looked forward to seeing what you could do. It was always great stuff.

It is great to hear from so many familiar people. Hi back to you all.

Here is a photo of the waterline hull (No, there will be no bitty little full hull version - although it might be adorable).

Most parts were cut with scissors in single thickness. That is I cut them out, glued them down and cut carefully around the edges.

I like to think of "better"ways to do things as I build things; I always have anxiety about getting hull sides on. Well, in the first place, glue smears won't count and I considering doing the aft hull as a wraparound piece so that I don't need to worry about a seam back there.

Good beginning. Do you plan to tack the hull to a piece of glass, or wood, or thick cardboard during the hull assembly?
