Russian cruiser Variag

Here are a couple of photos of my current build - the Russian cruiser Variag. The ship was actually designed and built in America at a time when the Russian Czar was outsourcing his ship building as part of an expansion program, so the main interest lies in its distinctive American design features. Just requires completion of the railings and rigging, which will be home-made from cotton using the method illustrated ( all credit to David Hathaway of the UK for this method).

Finally completed the railings and rigging. It took a while because I only made one frame for the ratlines and then had to make the four individual items (-and, let's face it, after spending some months adding fine detail to this ship I needed a break and so did some coarse work framing up another.) However it is really important to see each project through to completion before getting too involved in the next one!

Fine photos.
Looks like you spent a lot of time on all the details.
Your effort to re-scale worked out well.
Mike
