Suction dredger Willem van Oranje - 1:250 - Scaldis
This one has been on my to-do pile for years and years - the trailing suction hopper dredger Willem van Oranje by Scaldis Modelclub in scale 1:250. This was Scaldis' 50th published model. Dredging has an important part in Dutch history, and I have a bit of family history here as well.
This will be a challenging model. Lots of fine detail, pipework on deck, and a very complex-looking dredging arm. I will be using the lasercut frames and detail set.

That is a formidable vessel, and it looks like a challenging and complex model (perhaps challenging because it is complex). I will be watching.

Awesome, looking forward to it
How will you display it, like the demo model? a sheet of plexi in an aquarium?

Out of random curiosity decided to plug ship name in to google; found some interesting stuff.
Among the finds: It was drydocked for maintenance June this year, Quote:

And then found this website with a number of photos of it; seems website is for sale too if you happen to fancy owning a dredging database,

Knew there are at least a couple members who live there and speak the language but couldn't remember who they were.

Cheers, that's great info and photos!
Rick, the model can also be built as the Gateway, there are extra parts for the bow and stern. I don't think I'll use the plexiglas plate display, because then it won't fit in the display space I have in mind for it.
