USS Spadefish - 1/100 Halinski

Gonna try a submarine. Have plenty in the pile, just haven't pulled the trigger until now.

This one and the 1/200 scale Archerfish are the same basic kit, just different scales. I like the size and paper texture better in this one (Archerfish is printed on glossy paper).

What I am not looking forward to is the 2 mm thick formers for the main skeleton.

Greg!

I got this guy from you and the estate sale and I can't wait to see what you do with it. I have a Japanese sub too so I plan on making both one day soon.

I'm interested in how difficult this will be to build. I got the Archerfish from last year's convention auction.

I have this one aso. I have hesitated to build it bcs I cannot see how to manage realistic-looking periscopes and small details, so I will be watching. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the interest!

First up, since this is 2x the scale of the archerfish, the formers are double the thickness. That means the main skeleton is made up of 2 mm thick parts. Ouch.

These are all the 2mm parts.

Still have the rest of the formers to cut yet (out of 1 mm).

Looks like 38 inches long so just under a meter. Yes it's a big un.
