Italian Ironclad RN Italia - 1/200 Heinkelmodels

Hello ladies and gentlemen, as I strugled with Gneisenau, can't find the specific paint that I want for the wheels of my Bulgar (locomotive) and now home for a wheek due to a mild case of covid, I have decided to try one of the Heinkelmodels that I purchased a few months ago.

All the sheets printed on 80gr and 160gr paper, since I don't have the 140gr paper mentioned in the kit.

Here and there a little weight was applied to keep everything nice and level :

Upper hull part and deck are ready to be married :

And again, some pressure was applied to make sure they stay stuck together :

The plating of the hull went better than expected, not perfect but good enough for me. I did make two mistakes that can't be corrected anymore though : I had forgotten to cut out a square and I have not followed the correct order, resulting in me having cut off a tab.

Even the plating at the stern went on relatively ok :

One of the details I had not forgotten to cut out :

Overview :

And the work of the last two days are hardly noticeable from a meter away... I can't believe the level of details on this kit, and than to think that it's details like these that have prevented me from buying a Trumpeter kit with PE.

Fantastic Dan! you are brave man! I will follow your build very carefully.
160gr is also feasible. But it is no longer recommended greater thickness.
The hull is a simple design that is easy to build.
It is not a difficult model, only very laborious because the deck is very "furnished" with lots of little details. Patience!!

I follow your work.. Ask me whatever you want

Thank you sir, I sure hope I can do your design justice.

Today just a little progress, steps 17 and 18, two times each...

Step 17 are the front casemats, each containing a machinegun from step 6 (not documented) :

Step 18 are the two capstans that went together nice, I have however forgotten to take a pictures of the finished parts, but I will set that straight in the next update.

Hello, Dan

The RN Italia model is one of my future project to build...

I have already bought the kit of Heinkel Models some months ago and, probably, will be the next one after have completed the RN Affondatore.

I'll follow with extreme interest this your project and I wish you a great model with this Italian battleship !!

Ciao

Jp
