Barry, another great build going for you. Would you mind posting the link to the French archive site? I lost it when my laptop HD bit the big one

Good for ya buddy. It's always a bold step to go public with these things. I think that she's more than ready for it. Love to see these pictures.

Superstructure
Basic superstructure being a carrier there is not much of it really. There is not much room for detail which is just as well as I have very little on the upper bridge deck. Believe it or not the rather poor join line at the bow on the flight deck is how it looks in real life. That's a fluke though. It does not like close ups at this scale.

Barry – Triumph gets beautifuller with every new posting.
I can’t resist sticking in the following quote from page 66 of my forthcoming book: The United Kingdom and Australia immediately put their naval forces in Far Eastern waters (an aircraft carrier, two cruisers, destroyers, and frigates) under MacArthur’s operational control. New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Canada deployed ships to the Far East, and Australia made No. 77 Squadron (the one Commonwealth combat air unit that was still in Japan) available for combat operations in Korea. Eventually, the Republic of Korea and 15 UN nations, in addition to the United States, contributed combat forces to the United Nations Command (UNC), while 5 other nations sent medical units. On 3 July 1950 the United States declared a naval blockade of the Korean coast, aircraft from the USS Valley Forge and H.M.S. Triumph attacked the North Korean capital of Pyeongyang, and No. 77 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) began conducting air strikes in support of ROK ground troops.[19] Endnote 19: UN forces: Donald W. Boose Jr., “The United Nations Command in the Korean War: A Largely Nominal Connection,” paper presented 8 June 2000 at the 2000 Conference of Army Historians, 9–10; JCS Message 84622 to CINCFE, 29 June 1950, Sec. 21, Correspondence from 2–21–50 through 7–1–50; JCS Message 84885 to CINCFE, 3 July 1950, CCS 383.21 Korea (3–19–45) Sec. 22, Correspondence from 7–2–50 through 7–7–50, both messages are in Record Group 218, Entry UD-7, Box 38, CCS 383.21 Korea (3–19–45), National Achives and Records Administration. Cheers! Don Last edited by Don Boose; 09-03-2008 at 08:29 PM. |
